No longer are we limited by our own geography .
In our everyday lives, technology brings the world to our door, and even literally to our fingertips. This is exciting news for those who use interpreting services because now we are no longer limited by our geography.
Through videoconferencing technology, we are able to offer you top quality interpreting services right at your conference room, exam room, laptop or television.
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) may be right for you to augment other communication services or as the sole source of interpreter support. While onsite interpreting is always the optimal, VRI is a good option for your setting if the local interpreting community cannot support your needs, if you are located in a remote area that is not regularly served by interpreters or if your content is highly specialized.
In a wide variety of settings, VRI can bridge the communication gap between individuals and groups. Whether you work in an office, are taking a graduate class, or performing scientific testing in a lab that requires you to communicate with someone at your site, we can provide the technical guidance to implement this solution with ease. Many organizations already have the resources and infrastructure in place to use VRI. With a few simple steps, we can get you connected and let you begin participating in your event, meeting, or training.
While VRI can be an ideal solution for Patient-Doctor interactions, it is not recommended in emergency medical settings at this time. There are many factors that degrade the quality of the interpretation in volatile settings, making onsite interpreting the best solution. In medical emergencies, a highly qualified onsite interpreter is recommended due to the dynamic nature of the setting and to ensure the most accurate interpretation. Background noise, health professionals mobility in the treatment area and the possibility that the Deaf or hard of hearing individual may have difficulty seeing the screen are just a few of the factors that preclude the use of VRI in this highly specific situation.
Scheduled for full rollout in late 2005, we are currently piloting select customer sites for immediate VRI implementation. Please contact us to see if your organization or practice can participate immediately.
